In West Africa, fears that Ivory Coast’s conflict could spread | FP Passport

Once again, most people are myopically focused on what happens in North Africa and Southwest Asia. South of the Sahara-from Cote d’Ivorie to the Great Lakes Region to the Horn fo Africa-some 8 million people have been killed and tens of millions have been raped, displaced, and brutalized in the past twenty years. You can root for your “new democrats” all you want to, but in the grand scheme of things, our attention should be elsewhere.
